Press Release Summary: WiFiMobile explain the values of developing a mobile VoIP client
Press Release Body: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WiFiMobile enjoy control of their own destiny
Los Angeles, California September 7th 2007
WiFiMobile, a leading player in the mobile VoIP space today highlighted the benefits of having their own VoIP client rather than relying on Network Operators supplying handsets with the manufacturer's client pre-installed.
Back in April this year both Vodafone and Orange in the UK instructed a major handset manufacturer to disable the standard Internet Telephony from their top of the range model. This move left a sour taste for the vast majority of mobile VoIP operators as their software relies entirely on the standard VoIP client software stack being installed. Without this their service simply won't function.
In June this year the OMTP (Open Mobile Terminal Platform) announced that operators are entitled to remove or lock down VoIP applications on subsidised handsets for as long as the minimum contract period. Only after the contract period ends can users request VoIP functionality to be restored. This once again eliminates VoIP providers who rely on the pre installed client being present.
WiFiMobile's oneFone is a self developed and wholly owned VoIP client, and is a stand alone application. oneFone offers full VoIP functionality even if the Network Operators remove the standard client.
The company's US based developers are continually working on new features and benefits. Presence is fully supported where users can see who is online at any time. Call conferencing is next on the list with VCC (Voice Call Continuity) coming soon. This will enable seamless handover between Wi-Fi and GSM.
The software has features that are particularly important for the Enterprise market where select Nokia devices become pure extensions of a corporate IP PBX system.
CEO Gerry O'Prey says "Certain Network Operators are currently taking a stance against mobile VoIP as they have a right to do so. We have taken the decision to actually develop a solution without relying on other factors. Unlike other mobile VOIP service providers we own all the Intellectual property rights to our software".
